What is deer with holes in face?

Deer with holes in their face may be suffering from a condition known as cutaneous fibroma, also known as deer warts. Cutaneous fibromas are benign skin tumors caused by a virus and are commonly found in deer populations. These tumors can present as raised bumps or lesions with a central cavity or hole in the middle.

Cutaneous fibromas do not usually cause any serious health problems for deer, although they may cause some discomfort or irritation. In most cases, the tumors will eventually regress on their own without the need for treatment. However, in some cases, the tumors may become infected or interfere with the deer's ability to eat or see, in which case veterinary intervention may be necessary.

It is important to note that cutaneous fibromas are not contagious to humans or other animals, as they are caused by a virus specific to deer. If you encounter a deer with holes in its face, it is best to observe from a safe distance and not attempt to touch or approach the animal.
